DEAN’S MESSAGE
The College of Information Technology is a remarkable educational environment for talented students to gain current academic experience through a variety of internationally accredited programs and up-to-date courses that are responsive to rapid changes in technology, industry, employer needs and the changes in the national economic priorities.
As the first national College in Information Technology in Bahrain, our goals are to stimulate a thirst for knowledge and life-long learning within our students, and to inspire them to succeed in their careers through a spirit of independence, innovation and entrepreneurship skills.
Technological innovations are in demand in many different fields and occupations. New ideas and creative skills are needed to make those fields more effective, efficient, and able to cope with the accelerating changes in society. Starting from the government, businesses, sales, education, healthcare to industry.
Changes and adjustments are needed to create new jobs opportunities. The College of Information Technology seeks to contribute directly to the economic growth and development of our beloved country Bahrain. With programs supported by leading edge learning and teaching, IT students and graduates can translate their knowledge, new ideas, and innovations into business opportunities and tangible reality to become entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, the College of Information Technology supports the engagement in research with national and regional impact that flourishes the economy and the success of our community.
There are around 2800 students pursuing various degrees in the College of Information Technology. The skillful workforce at the College of Information Technology includes more than 70 faculty members who collaborate and work hard to deliver 13 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The undergraduate programs include Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science-Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. The postgraduate programs include MSc in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence and PhD in Computing and Information Sciences. The college administer MSc in Big Data Science and Analytics with the College of Science.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The College of Information Technology was established in 2003 and since then it pursues to be known as a world-class College that excel in learning, research and entrepreneurship in information technology.
The College of Information Technology seeks to contribute directly to the economic growth and development of Bahrain by preparing graduates that are internationally recognized and are regionally competitive within their field of specialization, supported by leading edge learning and teaching, research with national and regional impact, local engagement and international reputation.
The College of Information Technology started offering its programs in the early 1990s. To be in lined with the changing needs of the labor market, the College continuously updates and offers new programs. Currently, the College offers BSc programs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Systems, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science – Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. All those programs are designed to be aligned and benchmarked with the curricula recommendations of professional societies in IT such as the ACM, IEEE, and AIS.
The BSc Programs in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Information systems have been accredited by ABET since 2010. The Computer Engineering program have been re-accredited in 2014 and 2020. The Computer Science and Information Systems programs have been re-accredited in 2017.
Along with the ABET accreditation, the College programs have undergone continuous improvements and reviews through several programs including the UNDP program in 2003 and received a full confidence from the Education and Training Quality National Authority for all its undergraduate programs in 2014 and 2020. The programs were placed successfully on the National Qualifications Framework. It is worth mentioning that the Computer Science and Computer Engineering Programs was among the first batch in Bahrain to be placed on the National Qualifications Framework.
Furthermore, the College offers four postgraduate programs that include a PhD program in Computing and Information Sciences and MSc programs in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence. The postgraduate programs target IT professionals and provide advanced topics in the field of IT. Furthermore, the College provides leadership in research and innovation locally and regionally through its applied research and engagement with the IT industry in Bahrain. Several research groups work within the College and they serve the community through contractual research, consulting services, and application and software development. These include groups in areas such as Cybersecurity, Fintech, Mobile Computing, Applied Data Science, Telematics, and Intelligent Systems.
