Professor Hewahi obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India in 1994, M.Tech degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India in 1991, and BSc degree in computer science from Al-fateh University, Libya in 1986. He has been working with the Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine since 1996 where he became a full professor in 2006. In the period 2011-2013 he joined UoB, and again in 2014 till now. Prof. Hewahi's specific specialization is AI and machine learning. As a researcher he has published over 100 papers in very well known conferences and journals. He has been a winner of various prizes. His teaching and research interests include AI, intelligent systems, machine learning and evolutionary algorithms.
